Some Interesting Uses Of Condoms  

Condoms have been used by the U.S. military troops to prevent moisture from fouling the weapon (M16) by placement of the contraceptive device around the muzzle. It has also be used to waterproof boxes of matches and kindling, often by hikers and campers. Condoms have been used a method of carrying water in survival situations in Britain. Condoms have also been used in many cases to smuggle cocaine across borders. Sari weavers in India place condom in their thread spools to make it move faster through sewing machines. Sari makers use the condom lubricant to polish silver and gold threads used in traditional Indian outfits.

Factors That Influence The Use Of Condoms

The religious and personal beliefs regarding condom use, the misconception that use of condoms reduces sexual pleasure, any previous adverse experiences, and fears related to gender and tensions account for reduced use of the condom, worldwide. Effective use of the condoms cannot be made possible without eliminating such social stigma. The early detection and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, improving the public knowledge about STIs and attenuating the social stigma associated with the same is very vital if the remarkable progress in maternity care, family planning and child health and immunization were to be realized.

STIs- Mode Of Transmission And Consequences

Sexually transmitted diseases refer to infections that can be transmitted from one person to the other through sexual contact. Sexual contact comprises of a broad spectrum ranging from kissing, oral-genital contact, use of sexual toys between partners. It is commonly regarded that kissing is a safe sexual activity. The truth however is that diseases such as syphilis, and herpes can be transmitted through kissing. Pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, cervical cancer (as a consequence of human papilloma virus) are some of the possible consequences of STIs. Most of the infections have no satisfactory cure. If untreated, STIs can even lead to infertility and death.
