Obesity
Obesity is one of the most common diseases found all over the world. In developing countries it is more prevalent in the wealthy society, whereas in fully developed countries it is more common in lower-socioeconomic groups.
Being obese and being overweight is not exactly the same thing. Obesity may be defined as a condition in which there is an excessive amount of body fat and not just a few extra pounds. People who are obese are severely overweight and this can be harmful to the body in many ways. Heart diseases, back pain, weakening of joints, psychological problems like low self-esteem, are commonly related problems in these individuals.
Research has found that obesity does tend to run in families. A clearer role of genetics helps in prevention of obesity on those who are most vulnerable. Eighty percent of the offspring of two obese parents do tend to become obese individuals.
