Nose Bleed (Epistaxis)

A majority of Pediatric ENT consultations are with epistaxis.It can be managed easily with consultation with your physician. Trials show antiseptic cream is as effective as cautery, it is not known whether either is better than no treatment. After initial clinical assessment, it will need blood count, and clotting screen to diagnose, volume resuscitation may be required and some times a blood transfusion.

 In children, this condition usually occurs due to bleeding from anterior section of the nostril and a nasal packing might be necessary if the bleeding persists.
