Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson's disease is a slowly progressive neurodegenerative disorder caused by damaged or dead dopamine-neurons in the substantia nigra, a region of the brain that controls balance and coordinates muscle movement. When these dopamine neurons start to die, the lines of communication between the brain and the body become progressively weaker. Eventually, the brain is no longer able to direct or control muscle movement in a normal manner.
