Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol has always been an important part of social occasions and rituals in some way or the other in different cultures of the world. For most people who drink alcohol, it is a pleasant act which is an accompaniment to their social activities.
A moderate and safe alcohol intake for men would be up to two drinks per day and for women one drink per day.
To be more specific we are looking at – A standard dink is:
One 12 ounces bottle of 1 can of beer/ wine cooler.
One 5-ounce glass of wine or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled
spirits.
As individuals most of us know our limits. Nonetheless, it is frequently found that we cross our limits and increase the intake of alcohol regularly. This eventually causing a drinking problem known as alcohol abuse or alcohol disorder.
The consequences of alcoholic disorder can be fatal and eventually life threatening. The frequent abuse of alcohol can increase the risk of liver damage and also increase the risk of certain types of cancers, such as stomach cancer and oral cancer. Other general alcohol related problems that can occur quite frequently are in the oesophagus, immune system, brain damage and impotency.
